Back to California

Research checked: October 7, 2026. Election: November 3, 2026.

County elections decide who manages county services, public money and oversight. This directory includes the Los Angeles sheriff runoff and San Diego supervisor, assessor/recorder/clerk and treasurer/tax collector filings. It lists the offices present in those source documents; it does not imply every county office is up for election.

QUESTIONS FOR A COUNTY REPORT CARD

Ask candidates how they will publish budgets and contracts, measure service delivery, handle complaints, protect equal treatment, and identify the costs and legal authority behind their proposals. For sheriffs, review oversight and custody policies; for assessors and tax collectors, review accuracy, appeals and public accounting.

Official candidate filing list, August 28, 2026, 4:17 p.m. This dated snapshot is not a claim of final current ballot certification. Election = NO means the source does not schedule a vote for that office; a qualified filing alone does not establish ballot appearance. Blank qualification is explicitly marked.

COUNTY COVERAGE AND VERIFICATION

Los Angeles and San Diego source lists are indexed on this page. The other 56 counties have not yet been indexed here. A missing name is not proof that a person is not running. Cross-county district records need deduplication before statewide totals can be stated.

All 58 county election-office links and coverage tracker · Secretary of State county directory. Check your county's current voter information guide for the contests assigned to your address.

REPORT-CARD STATUS

Candidate policy research, campaign-finance comparisons, verified individual websites and portraits remain pending for these local records. No candidate score, endorsement or winner prediction is assigned. A blank financial record does not mean a candidate has raised no money. Lower-budget candidates can be featured first after dated filings establish their receipts, spending and cash on hand.

We wish every candidate and every California community a fair election and a good future. Voters make the final decision.
