HONORING THE YAQOUBI FAMILY AND THE LIVING LEGACY OF IMAM HASAN

THE TRUTH HAS A HISTORY. THE TRUTH HAS A FAMILY. AND THE TRUTH HAS LIVING TEACHERS WHO HAVE PAID A PRICE FOR DEFENDING IT.

Today, I want the world to meet an extraordinary teacher: Shaykh as-Sayyid Muhammad Abul-Huda al-Yaqoubi al-Hasani al-Idrisi, a descendant of Imam Hasan, the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.

The Yaqoubi family carries generations of Islamic scholarship, stretching through the great scholarly traditions of Damascus. His father, Shaykh Ibrahim al-Yaqoubi, was a distinguished teacher at the Umayyad Mosque. Before him came generations of scholars who preserved knowledge, taught students, and carried forward the inheritance of the Prophet's family.

BUT WHAT MAKES THIS TEACHER EXTRAORDINARY IS NOT SIMPLY HIS FAMILY TREE. IT IS WHAT HE DID WHEN THE TRUTH BECAME DANGEROUS.

When Bashar al-Assad's government began violently suppressing the Syrian people in 2011, fear spread throughout society. Scholars faced an impossible environment. Speaking against the government could mean imprisonment, persecution, exile, or worse. Many remained silent. Others sought ways to survive.

SHAYKH MUHAMMAD AL-YAQOUBI SPOKE.

From Damascus, he publicly condemned the violence and called for the killing to stop. He challenged a government that possessed prisons, intelligence services, and the machinery of repression.

He knew the danger.

He understood the consequences.

And he ultimately lost the ability to remain safely in his homeland, continuing his work from exile.

THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO CARRY THE TRUTH WHEN THE TRUTH HAS A PRICE.

And his work did not end there. He continued teaching, preserving Islamic scholarship, defending the dignity of the Syrian people, and confronting extremist interpretations of Islam through his writings, including Refuting ISIS.

THIS IS THE LIVING STANDARD I WANT HUMANITY TO STUDY.

Not simply a scholar delivering lectures.

Not simply a descendant carrying a blessed family name.

But a human being whose public record includes standing against oppression when doing so demanded personal sacrifice.

THE OFFICE OF IMAM HASAN — THE DOOR OF PEACE

We are building the Institute of Truth, and at its foundation stands the Office of Imam Hasan: the office of diplomacy, reconciliation, mercy, and restraint.

I am honoring Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi and the remarkable scholarly inheritance of his family by proposing him as the Living Chair of Imam Hasan.

This is where the past meets the future.

Where the living chains of Islamic scholarship meet the age of artificial intelligence.

Where diplomacy becomes an institution.

Where the Office of the Superuser brings citizens, knowledge, and public responsibility together.

And where the world learns that the greatest authority does not come from controlling people, but from possessing the character to serve them.

The age of AGI is approaching. Machines may become extraordinarily powerful. But humanity must never forget the teachers who stood for truth when governments possessed overwhelming power.

THE YAQOUBI FAMILY HAS A HISTORY WORTH PRESERVING.

SHAYKH MUHAMMAD AL-YAQOUBI HAS A RECORD WORTH STUDYING.

AND IMAM HASAN HAS A LEGACY OF PEACE THAT THE WORLD DESPERATELY NEEDS.
