And with peace and blessings upon the noble Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, his pure family, and his righteous companions—those who carried the light of character across centuries so that we might still find our way today. A constitution is not parchment. It is a covenant. And every covenant, to be blessed, must be written not only with ink, but with wisdom, humility, and the intention to protect the most vulnerable among us. Humanity now stands at a threshold unlike any before. On July 8, 2026, the world marked Constitution Day for Humanity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence—a moment when the journey began to create a constitutional framework ensuring that the unprecedented power of AI will always serve humanity, protect human dignity, strengthen trust, cultivate wisdom, and advance freedom, democracy, peace, and human flourishing. The date carried a deliberate historical resonance: two hundred fifty years to the day after the Declaration of Independence was first read to the people, the principles of the AI age began their own journey to the peoples of the world. And just as America moved from Declaration to Constitution, humanity now moves from the Boston Declaration to the drafting of a constitution for the AI age. But this constitution cannot be the work of one nation, one corporation, or one generation. Its legitimacy will rest where all free constitutions rest: on the breadth of those who shape it. It must bring together AI pioneers, world leaders, constitutional scholars, philosophers, scientists, innovators, educators, artists, and representatives of civil society from around the world. International consultations have begun and will continue through 2027, when the completed Constitution is expected to be presented. Yet no constitution can be blessed if it lacks a soul. And no soul can guide a civilization if it is severed from the Source of all mercy. That is why this call begins with the one who was sent to perfect noble character—the one whose example reminds us that before intelligence, there must be character; before power, responsibility; before judgment, justice; before technology, humanity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not come to build empires of stone. He came to build souls. He taught that the highest possibilities of a human life are not measured by intelligence, power, or productivity, but by the degree to which a person becomes conscious of God and allows that consciousness to transform the way he inhabits the world. He ate, slept, travelled, grieved, loved, forgave, and endured. His perfection was not an escape from being human—it was the fullest realisation of it. This distinction is vital now. Artificial intelligence can describe mercy without being merciful. It can write about longing without longing. It can produce a discourse on God without seeking Him. The prophetic model points in almost the opposite direction: its concern is not how much information a person can acquire, but what knowledge does to the knower. Does knowledge produce humility or vanity? Does strength lead to domination or restraint? These are not questions of intelligence. They are questions of formation. The Arabic and Islamic tradition contains a rich vocabulary for this interior work: *tazkiyah*—the purification and growth of the soul; *ihsan*—the cultivation of spiritual excellence; *rahmah*—mercy; and *dhikr*—remembrance. Together they suggest that a human being is not a finished object but a possibility. The self can be trained, disciplined, and refined. One can become more truthful, more patient, more generous, and more awake. This is the spirit we must bring to the drafting of the Constitution for AI and AGI. Not the spirit of domination, but of service. Not the spirit of control, but of trust. Not the spirit of exclusion, but of invitation. May this constitution be blessed—blessed by the hands that write it, the hearts that shape it, and the generations that will live beneath it. May it protect the weak, elevate the oppressed, and remind every machine and every human that power without character is dangerous, and intelligence without mercy is incomplete. And may the Prophet's example—his mercy, his justice, his humility, his truthfulness—be the light that guides us as we write not merely rules for machines, but a covenant for civilization.
